PPL Montana, headquartered in Billings, generates electricity at its coal-fired and hydroelectric power plants around the state.
In Montana’s electricity market, deregulated since 1997, PPL Montana is solely a generator of electricity. We do not deliver electricity to customers. The electricity we produce is sold by our marketing operation in Butte — PPL EnergyPlus — to wholesale customers such as NorthWestern Energy, to large industrial customers and to electricity cooperatives.
Our more than 500 employees — most of whom grew up right here in Big Sky country — work hard to make sure their fellow Montanans have the electricity they need. And our employees have been at it a long time. They’ve been working at these generating facilities for an average of more than 20 years.
Caring for the environment. Supporting responsible economic development. Contributing to our communities. Providing Montana with reliable, competitively priced electricity. It’s what PPL Montana does.
