Economic Development
PPL Montana supports bringing new jobs and new tax revenues to the state through improved economic development.
As a major employer in the state, PPL Montana provides 500 Montanans — employees who grew up right here in Big Sky Country — with good paying jobs. The company’s employees are paid in excess of $31 million per year in wages.
PPL Montana also pays more than $18.6 million per year in state and local taxes and regulatory fees.
Recognizing the importance of planned economic development, PPL Montana became a leading sponsor in the creation of a statewide leadership development program. Leadership Montana is a nine-month program of personal and trustee leadership development, and business and policy education.
Additionally, we partnered with Montana Economic Developers Association in 2005 on a workforce and economic development training seminar. "Leveraging Workforce Resources for Economic Development Success” was attend by 150 economic development and workforce development specialists representing the state departments of labor and commerce, business owners, the governor’s office and university academics.
We also donate to local economic development corporations and authorities.
Quality of life also plays an important role in economic development. PPL Montana grants have been used to support cultural programs, help establish new businesses, restore historic buildings and renovate shuttered buildings. (Click here to see more of PPL Montana's work in the community.)
