The PPL Montana Education Scholarship Program

In an effort to recognize highly talented Montana students and to encourage them to stay in Montana to complete their education, PPL Montana has established the “PPL Montana Education Scholarship Program.”

Four $2,000 scholarships will be awarded for one year to graduating Montana high school students.

Who is eligible?

High school students with a minimum 2.25 grade point average (GPA) who will graduate from high school in 2008 and enter a Montana accredited college, technical school or university full time in the fall of 2008.

Children of PPL Montana employees are not eligible for this scholarship. They are encouraged to apply for the PPL Montana Family Scholarship Program.

How does a student apply?

Print out and complete the Montana Education Scholarship application form. Mail it to the address below. E-mailed applications will not be accepted.

The application deadline is March 28, 2008. Applications postmarked after March 28, 2008, will not be accepted.

How are scholarship recipients selected?

A selection committee will evaluate applications based on high school academic record, financial need, extracurricular accomplishments, two letters of recommendation and student essays.

When will students be notified if they are scholarship recipients?

Notification will occur by April 30, 2008. A photograph will be requested from each scholarship recipient. The photos will be posted on our Web site.

What is the amount of the award?

PPL Montana will award four $2,000 Montana Education Scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Each scholarship is payable to an accredited college, technical school or university of the student’s choice and is for one year of undergraduate study.

Are there conditions that scholarship recipients must meet?

Yes. The recipient must enter an accredited Montana college or university in the fall term following their selection and must enroll as a full-time undergraduate student.
