Our Commitment to the Environment
Generating and delivering energy affects the environment. Our challenge is to do that as cleanly and efficiently as possible. That means investing in our facilities and searching out new technologies to reduce emissions.
Our environmental management system looks for ways to work smarter, cleaner and more efficiently. We work hard to make sure every facility meets environmental regulations and corporate environmental policies.
Our commitment is more than words.
- We have committed more than $50 million through 2009 for projects in Montana’s rivers and lakes for improved river flow, water quality, fisheries, wildlife habitats, recreation sites and cultural resources.
- Working with government and private partners, we’ve used those funds to leverage an additional $50 million in federal, state and private conservation funds that otherwise wouldn’t have been available.
- We’ve awarded Montana schools grants for earth science programs so students can monitor stream ecology, study weather patterns that create droughts, develop a community recycling plan and learn about the life cycle and nutritional value of plants. View information about the grants.
