PPL Montana earns state-sponsored logo for homemade products

Every day for more than 10 years, PPL Montana employees have proudly generated made in Montana electricity at 13 power plants across the state.

Now they have the state’s official stamp to back their pride in producing authentic Montana-made electricity.

PPL Montana has been accepted into the “Made in Montana” program of the Montana Department of Commerce. Program participants produce items made, manufactured, handcrafted or cultivated in Montana, and are authorized by the state to use a special “Made in Montana” logo to promote their home-grown products.

“PPL Montana is especially pleased to be the first energy company to be accepted into the Made in Montana program,” said Pete Simonich, vice president and chief operating officer of PPL Montana. “The Made in Montana logo is immediately recognized by Montana residents.”

PPL Montana is planning to place the logo on its Web site, stationery and publications, and other locations where its use is applicable.

“As we travel around the state, we hear a lot support for the Made in Montana program because it instills a sense of pride in Montana products,” Simonich said. “PPL Montana fits this description to a T. We’re 500 Montanans, using Montana resources wisely, creating a product every day that’s beneficial to the economy of our state and its people.”

PPL Montana is among more than 1,500 program participants who produce products ranging from food and beverages to machinery parts and canvas tents.
