Governor Appoints Spencer to Advisory Council

Gov. Brian Schweitzer has appointed Brad Spencer, vice president and chief operating officer of PPL Montana, to the Governor’s Energy Symposium Advisory Council.

The council is charged with developing an agenda for the Governor’s Energy Symposium to be held at Montana State University in Bozeman Oct. 18-19. The purpose of the symposium is to discuss energy-related issues and help formulate a comprehensive energy policy for the State of Montana. Schweitzer said that “an energy policy will help provide Montana’s energy customers adequate, affordable power while also ensuring that Montana strategically and proactively shapes its unique place in the rapidly evolving energy sector.”

“This appointment underscores the important position PPL Montana plays in the energy industry in both the state and the region,” Spencer said. “We will be working to direct the focus of the symposium to address a number of key issues including regional transmission lines and power markets, which are key not only to Montana’s success, but to PPL’s as well.”

Joining Spencer on the Advisory Council are representatives of consumer and environmental groups, energy producers and utilities, and political leaders from across the state.
