PPL Montana Announces Scholarship Winners

PPL Montana has awarded $12,000 in scholarships to eight college-bound students based on their academic record and extracurricular achievements. The scholarships were awarded through PPL Montana’s Education Scholarship Program and its Family Scholarship Program.

"These scholarships represent an investment in Montana’s future and reflect PPL's commitment to strengthening education and supporting the development of tomorrow’s leaders," said Lisa Perry, PPL Community Affairs manager.

The Education Scholarship Program provides $2,000 scholarships and recognizes talented students who plan to attend an accredited Montana college or university. This year's recipients and their college choices are:

  • Jeremiah" Allen of Kalispell, Montana State University
  • Kinzie Brady of Fairfield, Carroll College
  • Nicholas Econom of Winifred, Rocky Mountain College
  • Starr Wothe of Missoula, The University of Montana

The Family Scholarship Program provides $1,000 scholarships and recognizes outstanding high school students who are sons and daughters of PPL Montana employees and retirees. This year’s recipients and their respective colleges are:

  • Demetra Davis of Butte, Gonzaga University
  • Tyler Engebretson of Thompson Falls, Oklahoma Christian University
  • Zach Gill of Colstrip, Carroll College
  • Katie Henson of Billings, The University of Montana

PPL Montana operates 11 hydroelectric power plants along the Missouri, Madison, Clark Fork and Flathead rivers and Rosebud Creek, as well as two coal-fired plants in Colstrip and Billings, that give it a combined generating capacity of about 1,200 megawatts. The company employs about 500 people at its facilities throughout the state with offices in Billings, Butte and Helena.
