PPL Montana Sponsors Special Olympics State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies

BILLINGS, Mont. (May 16, 2006) — PPL Montana and its employees will be out in full force supporting the 2006 Special Olympics Montana Summer Games in Great Falls this year.

The company has contributed $10,000 to support the opening ceremonies of the games and many employees are volunteering to help with the event.

Three days of competition in 11 Olympic-type sports will begin with the opening ceremonies tomorrow (5/17) at the Montana Expo Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. More than 1,000 children and adult athletes with intellectual disabilities — 75 teams from 50 communities — are expected to participate and up to 4,500 spectators are expected to attend the games.

The theme this year is “Courage, It’s a Kind of Magic!”

“The opening ceremonies will bring thousands of people from around the region together to celebrate the human potential that these games represent,” said Lisa Perry, PPL Montana’s community affairs manager. “PPL Montana is proud to be part of this event to honor the athletes, coaches and families who remind us that extraordinary deeds happen every day.”
