In an effort to help talented Montana students continue their education, PPL Montana is offering four one-year $2,000 scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year.
“These scholarships are one way we can contribute to developing tomorrow’s leaders and encourage students to stay in Montana to finish their education,” said Lisa Perry, PPL Montana’s community affairs manager. “In our recent PPL Montana Quality of Life survey, affordability of the state’s higher education system was one of the key issues respondents identified as affecting Montanans.
“Education is the foundation for a strong economy and for developing our future business and government leaders.”
Any student who will graduate in 2007 from a Montana high school and enter a full-time degree program in an accredited college, technical school or university in the state is eligible for one of the scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded based on high school academic record, financial need, extracurricular accomplishments, two letters of recommendation and student essays.
More information about the scholarship program and an application form are available by clicking here. The deadline for applying is March 23.
“PPL Montana also supports education by funding environmental education grants, offering curricula that support classroom activities, and matching employee gifts to eligible high schools, colleges and universities,” Perry said. In addition, the PPL Montana Community Fund has awarded $400,000 in grants since 2005 for educational, environmental and economic development programs across the state.
