PPL Montana Accepting Applications for Community Fund Grants

PPL Montana is accepting applications from community organizations for a share of $100,000 in grants from its Community Fund. The grants help support projects that improve the quality of education, enhance the environment and spur economic development throughout Montana.

“We’re proud to help organizations whose programs touch the lives of thousands of Montanans, and I encourage community groups, environmental organizations and academic institutions to apply for the spring grants,” said Lisa Perry, community affairs manager for PPL Montana. “At PPL Montana, we believe in giving something back to the communities where we do business.”

Under the direction of a statewide advisory board, PPL Montana has awarded $600,000 since 2005 to more than 95 organizations that are addressing issues related to education, the environment and economic development, she said.

PPL Montana issues its Community Fund grants in the spring and fall. Organizations can request up to $10,000. The deadline to apply for the spring 2008 grants is Jan. 31.

The 18-member advisory board, which includes civic and business leaders as well as PPL Montana employees, helps determine how best to distribute the funds. The spring grants will be awarded at the end of March.
